Knowledgeable Business Investor and Global Sales Leader Paul Holland

Paul Holland began his career as a research analyst at SRI International in Menlo Park, California, a role that involved evaluating emerging technology trends. He subsequently served as the vice president of European operations at Pure Software in Sunnyvale after joining the company as a sales and sales management leader in 1992. Between 1997 and 2001, Paul Holland helped close more than 1,000 global customer accounts as the senior vice president of sales and global operations at Kana Communications.

Mr. Holland joined Foundation Capital as a general partner in 2001. He has been an early stage venture investor for seven funds, in addition to serving as president of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists. He has sponsored investments in startup businesses that have since combined for more than $20 billion in market capitalization.

Mr. Holland studied public administration and business at James Madison University. After graduating cum laude, he completed a master of foreign affairs program at the University of Virginia. He published his thesis, “Student Protest Movements 1815 Through 1968,” through the University of Virginia Press. He continued his education at the University of California, Berkeley, earning a master of business administration and serving as the class speaker at graduation.
